how did you do the "shaping"? wait till it was dry and cut it or mold it while still a little soft
what kind of foam did you use? everything I've seen so far is the yellow/tan colored stuff.
did you have to silicone it in or were the rocks enough to hold it down?

I really like the way that turned out. You did a nice job on it.

very nice, but need way more info you cant just tease us with a few pics and almost no info on the how to do this also did this change the ph of the water in the tank and how long did you let it dry before the install, that is maybe the coolest homemade background i have ever seen, oh and get a haircut would ya.

Looks good Curtis! If you hide the filter inlet behind the background it would look even better .

thanks everybody, the foam i used is made to be used in ponds so it did not change any water parameters, you can get it from drs foster smith. when i shaped it i waited until the foam dried and i cut it and sanded it. the rocks were enough to weight it down, i painted it and let it sit for about a week.

I am surprised the rocks were enough to hold it down. Mine doesn't have rocks so it will be siliconed. How did you colour the foam or was it that colour right out of the can? Would have saved a few steps if it came out black.

Glad to see you are wearing gloves. I didn't...lesson learned. That stuff is super sticky!!

lol yes graham, very sticky, the foam came out that gray color but i still spray painted it because i wanted it to be a little darker
