Lose some......win some?
And on the 7th day, the jewels ate their fry.
Both pairs seemed to have become cannibals
ay about 1 week. So next time I see them with
fry, I guess I'd better remove them.
But on a positive note, the A. comp pair I got
from Capt. Micheal spawned finally!
Pulled the pair to another tank, still have fry
this morning. (fingers crossed)

Re: Lose some......win some?
Well, next time came really soon!
Got up this morning to find the smaller (younger?) pair with another spawn!
Looks like HUNDREDS of them. I siphoned out an amazing number of them, and
have them in a 5 gallon tank with a sponge filter. There's still a swarm of fry
left with the parents.
We'll see how it goes...
The comps are so tiny, and the color of the substrate, it may be difficult to get any
shots of them.
It takes a LONG time for them to even start to look like comps!

Congrats!
I wonder if my calvus will ever grow big enough to spawn. I'm patiently waiting.

The babies I got from Captain in Jan 2009 are just now about 1.5 inches now.
When I brought them home, they were little brownish slivers...didn't even look anything
like a comp...
I don't know how old the parents are, they are pretty big, though, especially the male.

Came home from work, I still have both jewel and comp fry swimming.
I'm hoping they do alright.
