Dusty Tank Water

Dusty Tank Water
I have a 55gal with a Emperor 400 and a Whisper filter that can handle a 30 gal. My problem is the water it has particles that are very small floating around. The water is clear but it looks like it has moonbeams floating through it, thats the best way I can say it. Like dust, not a lot but not clearless like I would like. I mean I have seen tanks that look like Gin. I have been out of this for some time and now the equipment is different with the media being already made up to make things easy. What can I use to help with this problem, can I add something to the filters to trap these small moonbeams? Or is this normal for todays equipment. In my day we used Glass Wool and carbon

I have the extra (grey) cartridge in my Emperor filters filled with pillow batting (make sure you get the nylon stuff, cotton rots) to help filter out these type of tiny bits. It works.

I buy mine at Walmart in the craft/fabric section. There are a few things you can try for keeping the water clear, but the pillow batting is a good, cheap place to start.
Let us know if that doesn't solve the problem.
Oh, and are you sure it's debris and not micro-bubbles? I had a tank that I thought was full of those small dusty particles, but noticed when I turned my HOB filter off, it started to clear. Raising the water level fixed it and now I keep my tanks filled almost to the rim.

was going to say air bubbles too, my emperor filter will sometimes make tiny bubbles that look like dirt.
