impeller is loud how can i fix?

i cleaned out my emp 400 on the 45 the venalies tank and its sooo loud i put vasline like i use to and it helped only a little what else is therei can do?

I just took apart one of my Sen 900's. It's pretty loud too compared to the other one. Might be just luck of the draw or maybe some sand got into your impeller.

How did you apply the Vaseline?

Could be the impeller housing, on mine the tabs that hold the shroud looking thing on came unattached

Thanks for the tip Jeff. Nice post by the way. One of my Sens makes very little noise but the other sounds like a sub woofer left on without sound and cranked up to high. I'm also going to try some Vaseline on the impeller shaft.

no norm i jsut cleaned it out and put it on the rubber gaskts on top and bottom and jeff i cant see CF links what can i do? i need to sleep

inside the impeller housing is the round part that holds the top of the impeller, it has 3 vanes on the outside that are welded to the main housing.
mine had come loose at the weld and let the impeller rattle, I put a little superglue on them where they are "welded"




I also added some velcro strips to the housing to help absorb any vibrations that might be getting transferred to the body of the filter

Never was much of a fan of the emperors. More of an aqua clear guy myself.

I've never been much of an Aqua Clear fan. I'm working on repairing a noisy impeller on one right now. Plus the little knob on top of the intake tube broke off and now it's sucking air. I'm going to try a dab of silicone to plug it up. Right now it's making more noise than usual.

Did you get yours fixed, Derek?

no havent had time and AC are so dam much but they are nice i think i got a 110 in my garge gotta look but i love my emps

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I ended up plugging the hole with some Aquamend and it's working fine now.
