A. calvus vs compressiceps

Can someone tell me the difference between the calvus and compressiceps? Differences in appearance and behavior? I've done some reading on the subject, but wanted to see what you all thought. With no experience with them, I can't tell the difference by looking at pictures of them.

Calvus doesn't have scales on the forehead, that is a definite indicator. IMO calvus also has a longer body profile while comps look to have a taller body profile. The distance between the eyes and the lips is longer on calvus because the jaw line isn't as upright as the comp. Those differences are most obvious when compared side by side, the scales or lack of scales on the forehead is the key when id'ing a single fish.

I was thinking about starting with five or six little ones in a 29 gallon hoping for a pair or a trio to form. Your female comps didn't tolerate each other well, did they?

Mine didn't but some people keep them in harems. Mine were also wild adults. You've got the right idea, buy a group and see what comes out of it
